HOMECOMING: THE SOUND OF OUR SOULS
04 SEPTEMBER 2024 – 10 NOVEMBER 2024
This group exhibition is a continuation of our first iteration held at the UTA Artist Space, in Los Angeles. We wanted to bring the show back home, hence its “Homecoming” title. Featuring 7 artists from across the globe, the exhibition is a symbol of the return and repatriation back ‘home’ to the continent.

The concept comes from an aggressively proud and unapologetic sound stemming from each of these artists, their communities, and the African continent as a whole. At a time when the international gaze finally looks upon these young, emerging, creative talents – the question one ought to take as the viewer is beyond what the canvas is depicting. What are these voices telling us? What is their story? Who are they beyond the paint and their craft? What do they wish to share and impart? For it is indeed a vulnerable task for each who dares to create. So now that they have been seen, they demand to be heard and understood.
This is our voice. This is our time. This is the sound of our souls, our traditions, the drums of our ancestors beating to our lives, our modernity.
It is loud. Have a listen.
